There’s nothing more flattering than having someone you know ask you to be a part of their most special day. Linda and I went to preschool together. So when she and Holly asked me to photograph their elopement in Sedona, it was definitely a no-brainer.
Linda and Holly were married on the Bell Rock trailhead. They went out to the area in advance, and when they saw the sun setting over the rock, they knew that was the spot. They did their first look at the bottom of the trail, which of course was stunning. Then, each of their parents’ walked them up to the ceremony spot. Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend and live streamed by another so that everyone who couldn’t be there could still “be there.”
Those who were there in person all had great stories as to how they met Holly or Linda. Their family and friends came from all over the United States – Wisconsin, California, Texas, everywhere. One of my favorite stories was about how Holly met Phillip, their musician. Holly was having one of those low days that we all have, and while she was walking out of Whole Foods, she heard Phillip’s angelic voice in the stairway. She knew right then that he just had to sing at her wedding. And, that’s how their relationship began.
After Phillip’s song, Linda’s dad said a few words then led the group in a sing along to ‘What’s Going On’ because that is one of the songs on their playlist during their weekly dance parties. It’s unique details like this that I absolutely freaking love about wedding ceremonies.
After they officially became wife and wife, they celebrated with a gorgeous sunset over the Sedona landscape. Talk about perfection.
Thank goodness for Linda and Holly, their sweet souls, and the opportunity to be part of something as special as their elopement in Sedona. My heart is full.
