There’s something so special about photographing a newborn at home—where the pace is a little slower, the vibe is cozy, and the love feels extra tangible. I had the joy of photographing sweet baby Ava and her beautiful family recently, and it was one of those sessions that just made me smile the whole way through.
Ava was absolutely adorable and such a dream to work with. She spent much of the session wide-eyed, quietly taking everything in—already so curious about her world. It always amazes me how much personality even the tiniest babies can have.
Of course, when there’s a toddler in the house too, things can feel a little wild in the best way. Big sister was full of energy (as toddlers should be!) and did an amazing job with her new role. We worked in some breaks for running, jumping, and a few little treats along the way—because sometimes a lollipop is the key to sibling magic.
I always remind parents that introducing a new baby to the family is a big change for everyone. There are new sounds, new smells, new routines—and for toddlers, a whole new person in their space! Giving them some grace, space, and a little extra love during the session can go a long way.
Photographing a newborn at home really is my favorite. There’s something so intimate and grounded about capturing these early days in the very place where life is unfolding. It’s the start of so many memories—and I’m honored every time I get to be part of that.
Welcome to the world, baby Ava. You are so loved.
